Pickiness Of My Chihuahuas
Have you ever noticed how "picky" some chihuahuas can be? My chis are spoiled rotten and have a wonderfully, luxurious life, complete with soft pillows to sleep on, their own blankies to hide underneath, their own food bowls and are free to roam about the house as they please, except at night, where they do sleep in their own kennels, but they seem to prefer it that way. As of late, I have really tried the "wet food" approach to give them an add-in to their dry food, thinking that I was giving them a sort of treat, however, my Prissy did not appreciate it at all. She was so unhappy about it, that she didn't even try it......she only sniffed it and was poo-pooing her nose up at it. What does my Prissy like to eat? Well, this may sound silly, but besides her dry food, she seems to LOVE scrambled eggs. Yes, that's right! She thinks that she's human I guess. Does your chihuahua have a "special" food that they like or dislike? I would love to hear about it.

Easter and Chocolate Bunnies !!

This is my little stinker, Prissy. She is the highlight of any cloudy day. I am sure if you have a chihuahua, you feel the same way about yours. Tomorrow is Easter, a time for many who worship, go to church, many who come home and hide the Easter eggs outside in the lawn for the youngins to find, and a time for many baskets that are filled with chocolate candy. Please take great care that your chis do NOT get ahold of any chocolate at all. It can be very poisonous for them. I don't know what's in it that is bad, but please know that they cannot have it. With so much going on during this holiday, take special care to keep the candy up and away from your curious chihuahuas, or any dog for that matter. What are my chis getting for Easter? Just a bunch of lovin and attention.........that's really all they want. Happy Easter everyone !

Shorty's Hiding
Have you ever seen such a silly site? Shorty just absolutely loves being covered up...Just so happens, his bed was being washed, so he took it upon himself to sandwich in between the sofa pillows. This dog is so tiny that you really have to watch where you sit. He weighs about 2 pounds. It's funny how one litter of chihuahuas can be so different within the same litter. All of his brothers and sisters are much larger than he is. He has such tiny paws and legs. His siblings do not. Chihuahuas can have a litter that has many different color patterns as well. The parents were tan and brown colors. Funny, isn't it?

Chihuahua tips and facts

Getting a chihuahua is really a wonderful thing. But please do your research before just rushing out and buying one. Chihuahuas are a very loyal breed. They are loving, but tend to prefer one or two people out of a family rather than loving them all the same, and in my experience, they prefer adults to children. They are not guard dogs but make excellent watch dogs. Being the smallest breed of dog, they are very brave. They will stand up to a very large dog not even realizing how small they are. They do tend to bark alot, they have a tendency to shake, which is normal. They may shake when they are happy, as well as when they are scared or cold. Most chihuahuas are very much lap dogs and love to be with "their" person. Chihuahuas love to burrow under the covers and snuggle up as they do get cold easier than other breed of dogs. They are finicky eaters and do not like to potty on the papers when the papers are already soiled. They like it clean when they go or they may tend to potty "off" the paper spot. Chihuahuas have a mind of their own but are such a sweet dog that you will be glad you got one. Here is my website link where you can find out more about chihuahuas.http://www.barking-chihuahuas.com

Chihuahua Characteristics
Recognizing a chihuahua isn't hard to do because they seem to stand out in a crowd. Chihuahuas are the smallest breed in the world, ranging from 6-9" but can often get 12-15" tall. They normally weigh 2-6 pounds as well but I have often seen them a bit more than that. This is a natural toy breed, known to have very large and erect ears. Chihuahuas can have long coats or smooth coats ranging from the very soft to the wire-y whiskery feeling type of coat. They have short, slightly pointed noses, stick-like legs and often dainty feet. Some chis have the apple-domed head which is well rounded but there are some with the dainty "deer head" too.
This little dog is a very spunky and alert dog who is very loving. They love laying in sunny spots, and burrowing under any cover they can find. Chihuahuas normally are not a good dog for children but would rather stick with one person who they protect with a fierceness. They really love their person, loyal and are great lapdogs. Chihuahuas can sometimes make a funny noise like a backwards sneeze but this is normal for the breed.
